FSMTB 2022 Election Results
The 17th annual meeting of the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) was held October 19-20, 2022 in Charlotte, North Carolina with 37 member boards and agencies represented. Delegates elected two positions on the FSMTB Board of Directors and three positions on the 2023 Nominating Committee.

NEW RESOURCE TO COMBAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND FRAUD IN HIGHER EDUCATION
The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards is thrilled to announce the release of a new resource, co-authored by our executive director, Dr. Debra Persinger – A Toolkit for Identifying Human Trafficking and Fraud in Higher Education. The toolkit, co-authored with Lorna Candler of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, is a practical guide for state authorizers to identify and take action on human trafficking in higher education institutions.

MONKEYPOX DECLARED PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY
The Biden Administration, through the US Department of Health and Human Services, has declared monkeypox a public health emergency, with cases on the rise across the US. Since monkeypox can spread through skin-to-skin contact, massage and bodywork practitioners should continue to engage procedures to ensure client safety, proper practitioner hygiene, and disease prevention protocols that have long been a cornerstone of professional massage and bodywork practice.
