What is REACH?

The Regulatory Education and Competence Hub (REACH) is an online education center that offers continuing education courses that support required learning to sustain therapist competence and desired professional development, as well as directed learning to support state regulatory requirements and disciplinary actions. REACH was developed as a way to provide additional educational resources to massage and bodywork therapy professionals and assist state massage boards.

REACH courses can be found at reach4ce.org. All REACH courses meet FSMTB Continuing Education Standards, which were created by expert representatives from regulatory boards. Courses in REACH can be taken at any time, and course completions results for licensed massage therapists will automatically load into FSMTB’s Massage Therapy Licensing Database (MTLD) to help facilitate the role of public protection among state licensing boards/agencies and to support licensure portability.

What devices can I use to take REACH courses?

REACH courses are accessible on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, as well as computers. There are no special apps that need to be installed – just use the internet browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome) on your device to access REACH.

What courses are available on REACH?

REACH courses focus on regulatory education with topics such as ethics, laws, boundaries, the scope of practice and cultural competence. To take a look at our current course offerings, visit the Course Catalog.

How can I confirm whether my state board accepts REACH courses?

State regulatory boards determine if continuing education hours recorded in MTLD meet their requirements for license renewal. The best ways to know if your state board accepts these courses are to either review your state board’s website or contact the board and ask them about their continuing education policies.

Keeping that in mind, the following states currently have regulatory language to accept courses from providers in CE Registry, this includes REACH.

       Alabama   Michigan   Oregon
  Alaska   Missouri   Rhode Island
  Arkansas   Montana   South Carolina
  Connecticut   Nebraska   South Dakota
  District of Columbia      Nevada   Tennessee
  Idaho   New Hampshire   Virginia
  Iowa   New Jersey   Washington
  Kentucky   New Mexico   West Virginia
  Maryland   Oklahoma   Wisconsin
