The mission of the FSMTB is to support our Member Boards in their work to ensure that the practice of Massage & Bodywork is provided to the public in a safe and effective manner. As part of fulfilling this mission, the FSMTB has developed a licensing examination that provides a unified set of nationally-verified, entry-level standards for safe and competent practice of Massage & Bodywork.

The mission of the Federation is to support its Member Boards in their work to ensure that the practice of massage therapy is provided to the public in a safe and effective manner. In carrying out this mission, the Federation shall:

• Facilitate communication among Member Boards and provide a forum for the exchange of information and experience.
  
  
• Provide education, services and guidance to Member Boards that help them fulfill their statutory, professional, public, and ethical obligations.
  
  
• Support efforts among Member Boards to establish compatible requirements and cooperative procedures for the legal regulation of massage therapists, in order to facilitate professional mobility and to simplify and standardize the licensing process.
  
  
• Ensure the provision of a valid reliable licensing examination to determine entry-level competence.
  
  
• Improve the standards of massage therapy education, licensure, and practice through cooperation with entities that share this objective, including other massage therapy organizations, accrediting agencies, governmental bodies, and groups whose areas of interest may coincide with those of Member Boards.
  
  
• Represent the interests of its Member Boards in matters consistent with the scope of the Bylaws.

Representatives from 23 regulatory agencies and other key industry representatives attend the FSMTB formalizing meeting held in Albuquerque NM in September 2005.

The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards is pleased to announce its First Annual Meeting and Conference. This meeting will be held from September 21st - 23rd at the Elms Resort and Spa in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

Located just 30 Minutes from Kansas City, The Elms Resort which dates back to 1880 has been graced by Gangsters, Industrial Tycoons and Presidents alike. In the early days folks came to Excelsior Springs for rest, privacy and a little sporting pleasure. Local natives tell stories of the Springs "healing powers". Today, The Elms Resort, Spa and Conference Center provides a more modern therapy... relaxation and indulgence.

It is by design, not chance, that the First Annual Meeting of the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards is being held in a location known for its healing effects one which treasures its past, relishes its present and embraces its future. While the meeting and conference are geared toward the regulatory community, professional, educators and the community at large are welcome to attend. Registration is divided into two categories - Delegate and Non-Delegate. Delegates are selected by our Member Boards and must meet the qualifications outlined in the FSMTB bylaws. Non-Delegates are additional attendees from our member boards, representatives from non-member boards, educators, professionals and anyone else interested in a first hand view of the development of this amazing organization.

The second annual FSMTB Conference will be held October 12th to 14th at the Sheraton Safari Hotel & Suites in warm and sunny Orlando, Florida

Orlando has been named America’s family fun capital as it is home to Walt Disney World, Sea World and other famous mega-theme parks, including Discovery Cove and Universal Studios. The Sheraton Safari Hotel & Suites is a uniquely African safari themed hotel, designed to offer the finest in recreation and relaxation. Adjacent to shops and restaurants, this six-story hotel is within four miles of SeaWorld and within eight miles of Epcot®, Disney-MGM Studios, and the Magic Kingdom® Park. The centerpiece of the hotel is a landscaped courtyard with splash pool and a 79-foot python slide.

While the meeting and conference are geared toward the regulatory community, professional educators and the community at large are welcome to attend.
